South Wales Fire and Rescue Service based Bridgend Extrication Team are multiple times World Champions and National Champions in extrication and rescue challenges and today I speak with team members Shaun Moody, Roger Magan, Rob Buckley & Les Evans.
The World Rescue organisation (WRO) is a partner of the United Nations Road Safety Collaboration and its member organizations represent the five continents of the world. They are committed to improving rescue standards throughout the World. Bringing together the rescue services and developing their skills to serve the public.
In their international competitions, this incredible team of operators train for and are challenged to tackle a number of difficult scenarios across three disciplines; a Rapid event 10 minute scenario with one casualty, a Standard event 20 minute scenario with one casualty and a 30 minute Complex scenario with two casualties. It was an opportunity every year for the team to display the elite skills they use in their every day job keeping the people of South Wales safe.
